My Very First Decoupage Is Done!!!

It took me over a week to do but I finished it. DH "darling husband" points out that the pieces aren't as elevated as mom's. I realized that I wasn't putting enough glue to give it depth. Now I know I better. I took pictures last night but now I need to crop, size and save them. Once this is done I will post them.

I have to say it does show a big difference from just an ordinary print. My co-workers are eager to see the finish product but they will have to wait until I post the pictures or get it framed.

I look forward to doing my next project.

Dinner

Thanks to my best friend who recommended to shop at asian markets for "mock" meat. Yesterday Bill and I went to this asian market in our area. There we found vegetarian style meat. We bought lamb and beef.

For dinner I used the beef. It was very tender and shredded but rolled up into a ball. We had leftover brown rice. First I chopped some onions, carrots and brocolli. I stir fried it in a wok. Later added the meat, some seasoning, vegetable broth and bbq sauce at the end.

It was very yummy.

The trick to cutting onions

Well this works for me. As Bill knows it, I do not like cutting onions. I usually let him do this task. One night, I decided to do it myself. It was hot in the apartment so I put on the osilating fan.

I ran some cold water on the onion and proceeded to cut it. The breeze of the fan felt nice in my direction. As I am cutting it, I noticed that I was shedding a tear. Normally, my eyes start to water up and it can be hard to bear. But not this time.

So just last night I did the same ritual with the fan and cold water and not one tear from the onions. Give it a try, it might help. The fan over the stove counter top will not work. It has to be a floor fan or table. And don't put it on high, low speed works fine. Have the fan not too close to you but enough to feel a nice breeze.

It's been almost 3 months since my last entry..

I've been busy with things or honestly lazy "LOL"
And here's is what has been happening since then:

Month of June, we decided to put our house for sale. We did the cleaning up and staging. Open house came around. That week we got an offer and sold!

July 8th we moved to our new place. A two bedroom apartment. Only 5 minutes bus ride away from my work. Which I find as being way cool! It's been a month since we have been here. We both like it here.

I have been itching to give 3D decoupage a try. My mother-in-law, whom I refer to as "mom" inspired me to give it a try. I am just about finished with my very first masterpiece. It's a lot of fun but yet takes time to do. Being able to cut every piece and to position it for the 3d effect takes patience. Especially with the very tiny pieces "thank goodness for tweezers." As soon as this piece is done, I will post it for all to see.

I celebrated my birthday on August 10th! Which I am not ashame to reveal, that I am 38. Thanks to my husband Bill for my early birthday present, which was a flat screen monitor my "Twiggy" my computer and my in-laws "mom and dad" for the poncho. And thanks to all for sending their birthday wishes.

I finally finished ready "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix". Towards the end it is revealed the real reason why Professor Dumbledore chosed Harry. Also it mentions something about the "half blood prince" hence the introduction to the newly released book.

I've heard so much about the "The Da Vinci Code". I thought I give it a try and read it. I'd figure the movie will be coming out next year and I want to be well informed when it is released. It took me 6 days to read. I found the book intriguing and informative. Whether or not what was being claimed is true or not, it's up to the reader. The riddles and clues to finding the "holy grail" gave me a little history lesson on the Vatican, religion, historic history and Da Vinci. A co-worker recommended that I read the author's other book "Devils and Demons" which has nothing to do with the Da Vinci Code, yet has something to do with the Vatican.

So now I am up to date. =0)
